There seem to be quite a lot of negative critical reviews circulating by mouth, about the movie Sivaji. I just don’t see why people are so critical about the movie. Here are some of the criticism that I heard, and the explanations to them.
1-“There is no story in Sivaji”
Who makes movies without a story? Every movie has a story of some kind. Look at “Pirates of the Caribbean” trilogy; did any of them have a proper story? They had lots and lots of plots and sub plots. But the main theme is just Jack Sparrow Vs Davy Jones. Why can’t we have Rajini Vs Suman in Sivaji? But Sivaji had a better message to tell, unlike Pirates. Sivaji Talked about bringing out the black money, and asking not for the rich to become richer, but also the poor to become rich. And he cleans the black money to white, through hawala method. How many of you know what hawala method is? It’s called money laundering! The way he cleans money is perfectly logical.
2-“There is nothing unique in Sivaji”
What do you mean by being unique? Rajini have his huge set of fans and followers who wants to see him powerful on screen. There actors like Kamlahasan, whose fans expect him to be unique and different in all his movies. But how can u expect Kamal to do a powerful role, and Rajini to do unique role. It sounds idiotic and it doesn’t work like that. This doesn’t happen even in Hollywood. Every movie of Arnold Schwarzenegger shows him strong and powerful and has formula story to follow. And similarly every movie of Brad Pitt shows him cool and romantic, and every movie of Russell Crowe has a real life story or unique characters from his previous films.
You can’t change an icon like Rajini so differently on screen. Changing his appearance slightly by growing beard in Baba was not accepted by his fans. So the director has to be careful about that. But still Rajini came up with lots of different styles and get-ups. He even imitated Sivaji Ganeshan, MGR and Kamlahasan, which he had never done before. And he also appears with a tonsured head.
And furthermore you can’t show Rajini getting beaten more by villains. There was a slapping scene in Muthu, and fans got angry on it and burnt down an expensive screen in Chennai. You might be living in a civilised developed country, but the culture and fanatical maniac fans in India are different. And mind you, Sivaji is made for them. They are the main market.
3-“The fight is not so good”
Movies like Pirates have 1 billion dollar market, so they will put in all the money to have a nice incredible fight scene with all the latest technology and highest quality. But Sivaji has 5 million dollar market, and that too is the highest ever registered in Tamil Cinema. How can you expect the movie to have fight scenes like in Hollywood movies?
And our hero Rajini is 58. Give some excuses to the guy. He has done better to his age.
Sivaji has done quite well considering the fact that the movie was under lots of pressure to perform well. It did deliver quite well to the expectation. It might not be the best, buts its good enough!!!

I've been told that it's different (OMG!) for a Rajni movie, but thus far the trailers tell me that it's the same old shit regurgitated for the masses, except this time he is fairer and (supposedly) younger than he was in his previous movie. Christ, I am sick of Rajini. I wish he'd start acting his fucking age.
Personally, I am just waiting for the next Kamal Hassan. Hopefully, Kamal won't try the whole crapfest of Wasool Raja again.
I'm not going to say anything until I see the movie for myself.
But I'm sure it has its ups and downs, but as I said, no comment until I see for myself.

Sivaji is alright, but it is by far the most unrealistic movie I've ever seen. Devdas the Hindi movie which spent less was a far better made movie. Sivaji on the other hand was quite distasteful. Furthermore it is not a 5 million dollar market, just the production cost is 15m, the distribution rights for Tamil Nadu was 13m, international 3-4m and god knows what it was for the rest of India. There are much better movies made for less money and if he is 58 dont make him look like he is 30. Also please get your facts right before you speak
for example since you brought the Hollywood actors into the discussion which is totally unneeded..here are some of the examples...every movie of arnold shows him strong and powerful so for few exampels what do u call Jingle all the way a full fledged comedy...End of Days a horror film..Then brad pitt is always cool? then how come he made a troy and a babel? and a spy game?..then russell crowe always into reality? Mystery Alaska wasnt...LA Confidential wasnt? just comon dnt come to justify Rajini..
did you look at the details of pirates of the carribean? it freaking had a story..a story that lasted 3 movies...yoiu maybe right with just davy jones and jack sparrow...but isnt every movie liek that? take guru its just abishek and the government...take bombay...its hindu vs muslim...take oceans 11..its the 12 member gang vs the casino owner...even harry potter harry vs voldermort..why does all thse ppl spend so much time writing 500 page books and scripts while its just one vs the other? thats how it should be presented...thats now u make a story effective...the sub plots and plots in Pirates makes it sophisticated more interesting makes u think..look at the way every single scene is crafted? u cant find faults with it since its well planned..again sivaji sucked..he should act his age
OK. I have something decent to say now. I still haven't watched the movie but...
The most common theme in movies/books etc is the fight between good and evil. It is very rare for a story not to have that theme. So DO NOT DISS THE PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN.
Secondly, maybe some further research would be of some use, not just facts and figures which come out of the top of your head.
Thirdly, your "Support Sivaji!!" blog just backfired in your face. YOU GOT OWNED.

you were talkign abt the different acts rajini portrayed displaying sivaji...kamal and MGR in hsi first night scene...you call that amazing? well wasnt it in parthiban kanavu in the song pak pak mada pura...and in pithamagan where surya dances with simran? nothign special yaar

parthi dont argue with ur nonsense without knowing anything exactly. Arnold was shown strong and powerful in every single movie of his..and its a proven fact. I assume u havent watched jingle all the way. He came as a turbo man at the climax of the movie. He was strong and powerful. Even in end of day he was strong and powerful. Dont just talk cowdung without knowing anything.
Brad pitt was cool and shown handsome no matter what role played. He was cool in troy as Achilles. He was shown cool no matter what tole he plays...same to rajini.
Russel crowe always acted in realistic kinda movie. Not necesarily show him cool or powerful like bradd or arnold.
u dont get what i am saying. The heroes might not get cooler modern day characters, but they were shown cool no matter what role they take on.
oceans trilogy is nothin without the star cast or the amount of money put into it. pirates will look like shit wihtout all those realistic graphics. They have money to do whatever they want, tamil market is not so big to spend so much for graphics. pirates did follow what people wanted jack to do. always put him into trouble, and speak in his manerism. similary for sivaji, people wanted to see him cool and doing something good to the society, and thats what he did.

watch Devdas the 52 crore movie and sivaji the 80 crore budgest movie ull knwo the difference...why are u always syaing money money money...so what was 80 crore all abt? your cowdung? gajini looked far better and cooler for tis budget than the 80 crore sivaji...for indian currency 80 crore is a huge money...and NOOOO they didnt utilize it properly...
man sivaji is not 80 crore..its 60 or around about there only. Even bollywood movie cant take back 80 crore money, and tamil cinema dont have such a huge market.
out of the 60 crores, around 20 crores is rajinis salary, plus around 8 goes to shankar and about 2 goes to rahman. u end up having 30 crores in your hand. And all the songs are shot with lots of sets and stuff. there are lots of automobiles broken in the car fight scene. The house they used as sivaji illam, would have consted a huge fortune to rent.
And most of all devdas had a theme of luuxry and extrodinary on its sets. but sivaji had the theme of reality in them. so u dont see such a luxurious sets like in devdas. savvy?
the porblem with the movie was the less reality suhasini was sayign the same thing..it really looked fake tellign a real story
which shankar or rajini movie ever looked real??
they all had had their larger than life hero expericengin fantasy life style...its only suhasinis hubby who makes realistic movies...

Sivaji was a waste of money. End of. There are far better things to be doing with money than a stupid movie which seems to be causing all this commotion!
Also, just because a movie has a higher budget than another does not make it better. It's just an even bigger waste of money.
And how come Rajini gets 1/3 of the budget? Bastard.

Sivaji was a really a waste of time. But thank god it was slightly better than BABA. Rajni should act his age like the Big B does. I struggled with the mass crowd to get into cine city to see what all the hype was about............
